I’m originally from Scotland, now living in California, but doing a lot of traveling. This is an occasional travel journal, written after the fact, based on notes I make while traveling.
I’m particularly interested in the former USSR and its near neighbours.
Countries I’ve visited in the last ten years include Afghanistan, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, Egypt, Eire, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, the Netherlands, North Korea, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Sweden, Syria, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, Turkmenistan, U.A.E., Ukraine, Uruguay, and Uzbekistan.
For reasons that are unclear even to me, I collect photographs of statues of Lenin and (more rarely) of Stalin. I have a few from commemorative statue parks or museums, but I mostly prefer capturing them “in the wild” where they are still simply a part of the everyday landscape.
